My favorite pictures of 2018
It has always amazed me how photographs can bring back tons of memories: and not just of a background, place or the technical aspects surrounding an image. The synapses of the brain are so closely connected that a whole stack of memories and feelings can be evoked by an picture.
In choosing my favorite photographs, I realized that it was more difficult than I imagined to chose my top photographs for the year, at any rate, here is the selection I have chosen.
San Francisco, USA – I was particularly drawn to the warm colors of this composition and outlined skyline of the city with festival decorations. This is the picture displayed as it comes out from camera, without any digital editions just except the watermark
Melbourne, Australia – In November, I had the opportunity to visit Australia. Throughout the month we have been traveling south to north and round trip to cover the most of the places in east coast.
You can’t go wrong with these colorful, photogenic bathing boxes in the Brighton beach. Whatever clothes you wear, you will find a box with matching/contrasting tones to make an interesting picture. Look out for the “Life’s a beach”, boxing kangaroo, Australian flag ones
Melbourne, Australia – Southbank which is located on the Yarra River has views of the Melbourne City skyline which are even more spectacular during night.
From Southbank a footbridge that crosses the Yarra River takes you to Flinders Street Station and Federation Square which are well known city icons
Great Ocean Road, Australia – The highlight of the trip was seeing the Twelve Apostles however at this time there are eight or nine apostles left, but number of formations is insignificant. The water, the sand, the splendor of nature abounds and the amazing vistas are magnificent
Cairns, Australia – What could be more romantic than spending a few days in a tropical paradise, surrounded by amazing wildlife, Great Barrier Reef and some of the best diving and snorkeling in the world
Brisbane, Australia – Story bridge is not only impressive but it is a great location for photographs of the CBD, especially long exposures to capture the city at night. Apart from pictures it is a great place to stroll during night, we started our very long walk from Kangaroo point and came back after covering both sides of river
Gold Coast, Australia – We witnessed some the massive waves hitting the Gold Coast, there is a historic lighthouse located at the tip of this break-wall. Walk till end to get the amazing view to city’s skyline
Crowdy Head, Australia – If some magic can make it smaller to fit in my pocket and I could bring it home. Some things don\’t have any explanation, they just hold some special tiny place in your heart forever
Sydney, Australia – Mrs Macquarie\’s Chair is situated on the foreshore of the most beautiful harbor we have seen so far. You can start the walk from Opera House and walk along the walkway on the edge of water to this point, sit and view the sun setting down behind the harbor with the iconic Sydney ferries passing by
Colmar, France – This photograph was captured during late night stroll in the town. The calm canal reflected the buildings, clouds and blue sky beautifully. Colmar was my favorite in the entire Alsace region and this was the only night such a scene presented itself
First, Switzerland – The Bachalpsee the most visited lake due to its crystal clear blue water perfectly reflects the mirrored images of surrounding snow-capped mountain peaks at the certain time on the sunny day. The surroundings look heavenly we just sat and enjoyed the peace and serenity of this place with our warm tea and snack. There’s nothing like sitting by the lake in the freshest air ever and the cool crisp breeze. This is the most beautiful lake we have seen after lake Pukaki in New Zealand. Full article on Bachalpsee can be checked here
Paris, France – Arc de Triomphe is a great way to get a different view of Paris. Not overly tall but high enough to get above the view of majority of Paris’ buildings. This picture is from the other side of road, we decided to stand at the right as opposed to the middle. The reason behind selecting this place is, we wanted to have some road traffic with the arc.
